President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially handed over 1,000 title deeds to farmers in Mazowe under the Presidential Title Deeds Programme, marking a significant milestone in the Government’s efforts to provide land tenure security and empower farmers.

Addressing stakeholders at the event, the President said the issuance of title deeds would enable beneficiaries to confidently invest in their land and use it as collateral to access financial resources. He added that the programme is central to the Second Republic’s vision of promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development through enhanced agricultural productivity.

In addition to the handover of title deeds, President Mnangagwa also launched the Production Booster Kits for smallholder irrigation farmers, which will provide 10,000 A1 farmers with access to loans of up to US$6,000 in its first phase. The initiative is targeted at supporting irrigation development on 1 to 3 hectares per farmer, with the aim of strengthening food security and improving resilience against climate change.

“The provision of secure land rights and access to financial support for irrigation farming will transform livelihoods, stimulate rural economies, and accelerate our journey towards agricultural modernisation and food self-sufficiency,” President Mnangagwa said.

The programme is part of wider Government efforts to ensure that land reform beneficiaries derive maximum value from their land, while contributing to national food systems and economic transformation.

Key programme highlights include:

  • Issuance of 1,000 title deeds to Mazowe farmers.

  • Introduction of US$6,000 loan facility for 10,000 A1 smallholder farmers.

  • Support for irrigation on 1–3 hectares per farmer in the initial phase.

The dual intervention of tenure security and irrigation support is expected to enhance productivity, guarantee household and national food security, and anchor Zimbabwe’s progress towards achieving Vision 2030.
